The Environment Agency says businesses should act now to prepare for the effects of climate change.

The organisation has developed information and guidance to help businesses ‘increase resilience to extreme weather and a changing climate’.

New tools include:

  • The ‘Be Climate Ready’ leaflet, aimed at small and medium-sized businesses.
  • The Business Resilience Health Check tool – a five step framework to help businesses understand and manage the risks that extreme weather and our changing climate pose to the increasingly complex supply chains of UK companies
  • Guidance on assessing and managing climate change risks in supply chains
  • Help with building the business case for climate change adaption,

The Environment Agency says: “If your business has been affected by changes in weather patterns or an extreme weather event, you know how expensive and disruptive recovery can be.

“Being prepared for future changes in the climate is an important part of business planning, whether that be building climate resilience into your business practices or making the most of business opportunities.”
