Business leaders, including Sir Richard Branson, have said countries should aim to rid the world’s economy of carbon emissions by the middle of the century.
The group, known as the B Team, has issued a five point plan calling for an end to fossil fuel subsidies, among other measures.
A global agreement on emissions reduction is due to be signed in Paris in December. Countries are expected to publish their post-2020 national targets for evaluation by April this year with the goal of achieving sufficient decreases to limit global average temperature rise to 2C.
